Forest Mill in Selkirk first began operations in the 19th century as part of the wool trade, reaching its peak between 1902-14. Following the war, the trade declined heavily and eventually the mill stopped work in 1973. It was then bought by Andrew Elliot Ltd. who priduce high end Tweed products. This regenerated the mill for a short while but this also ended when cheaper factories were found elsewhere
There is some evidence of machinery still in place but the vast majority has probably been sold on, the place is a quick visit but as someone living in The Borders, the mills are quite important to local history so it's still a nice thing to go pop your head in and see! Hope you enjoy the quick summary and the pictures attached :)
