Here it is as simple as an old German regimental area...

A personal guess is that this regiment was built during the early 1900s, with a large practice area (Truppenübungsplatz) nearby. After the first world war the area was probably not so well populated, but well into the 1930s, the barracks were filled again with new young soldiers ready to conquer Europe.

After World War II, the area became, over time, rather than a Soviet regiment in the middle of East Germany. Right next to the original buildings, new barracks were built in the clear Soviet style. These are now demolished. The German red brick is better than the Soviet building blocks of nondescript material ..

Within a few years after the wall came down and West / East Germany was united, as were the buildings naturally empty, and now awaits the new owners for the right time to rebuild the area for their homes or offices. Wonder if the owners go in goal with the plans within 10 years... :popcorn
