History

This hotel is housed in a historical building which dates back to 1927 and includes a total of 30 bedrooms over two floors.

It was family owned and operated for several decades and closed in 2007. The adjoining building was destroyed by fire in June 2006 (link here) and the business fell into decline. The former owners decided to sell the building and it lay empty for several years.

The windows were boarded up in 2008 and the dossers moved in shortly afterwards. They were kicked out, but kept going back. Then the local ne'er-do-wells decided to use the downstairs bar as a drinking den. Again, attempts were made to board the place up more securely and it has lain in that state since 2008/9.

In the latter part of 2011, the local newspaper ran an article saying that it would shortly be torn down and redeveloped into a hotel and several retail units (link here).
