I have seen a bunch of reports over the last few months for Greenbank Synagogue in Liverpool so It's safe to assume it is (or, at least, was) open. I was just wondering if anyone has had any recent success gaining entry over the last couple of months? Not gunna ask for an exact entry point, just wondering if it is still open and the way in isn't too much of a piss take, really want to get in there before it is sealed up again!

If anyone has info or leads I would really appreciate hearing from you :)

Thanks in advance guys!

There's only one way to find out. Take a look for yourself access to places changes some you win some you lose its all part of the game.you can't go to places and get in them every time..

Oh don't get me wrong, I'm going anyway but thought I would get some community input and see what the score was in advance.

Sealed up ? When was it ever sealed up ?

Obviously if there's been recent reports it would suggest its accessible . As you're a climber it'll be nothing you can't handle I imagine .

Just don't do any selfie shots with your website printed on the back of your Hoodie the local press get annoyed ;)

I heard a while ago that it had been sealed up and that only recently it was open again. I guess the rumour mill got the better of me and presumed that the security firm may have gotten wind and been to close it up again between the last report and now.

Now it's just a matter of the CCTV and whether it is monitored or if they are dummy cameras. Last thing I want is to be on tape getting in and then being escorted out by security or the boys in blue.

I live behind Greenbank Synagogue and can make the following report on recent observations:

About three Fridays ago I came home to see flames coming up from the annex building being dark and the angle of view I have from my house I couldn't quite make out if this was actually the building itself or from the area in front anyway I called the fire brigade and they put it out quite quickly. Once they arrived and shone some more light on the matter it appears that the fire was in front of the annex.

Around one week ago I noted that red boards had been placed against the main central windows at the rear on the inside. The other windows at the rear and in the rear side "turret" rooms hard board can be seen against the inside of the windows.

Late Monday (December 21) afternoon a truck was observed delivering materials and there was the sound of sawing and drilling which went off until after dark on December 22.

The windows in the annex building have now been been boarded, mostly with fresh hard board but I think they ran out as a bit of boarding has been done with different wood perhaps some salvaged from furniture.

It was exactly a year ago, just before Christmas that the lower windows of the main building were secured by metal sheets.

Recent local press reports suggest that the council is going to bid for money to restore the synagogue and other prominent decaying buildings in the city.

If only the Jewish community had been remotely interested in the building when it was in a salvageable condition and/or actually sealed the access point that was open for at least 18months etc etc

The only spark of interest came thanks to call nighter posting his pics from here with his website emblazoned across his hooded. .......The outrage from the Jewish Community lasted all.of 3 days before they lost interest and returned to ignoring the building..
At least the roof got repaired ......allegedly

Those people busy securing the building might have done something in the past few days to stop people getting in - but they are not stopping the weather and birdlife! Since October 2014 on the northern rear turret has been left open. In mid October 2014 I observed some people emerge from the door with a ladder climb up onto the roof, take photos of themselves and then descend. They left the ladder there and the door has now been open for 14 months! Quite a lot of the local bird life wander around near this door and I dare say they must be wandering in!

As for the local Jewish community I am not sure there is much of a community now. There is some Jewish sheltered housing accommodation around the synagogue. However, from what I have picked up most of the people in this accommodation are no longer Jewish.

The building would make a splendid exhibition hall with the adjacent annex done refurbished as a community centre or something.

There have been local rumours of the annex being demolished and some of the spacious ground being used to build some houses, but nothing has appeared on the planning web site.

I wonder who has foot the bill for the latest security work?

As far as I am aware the building is on leasehold land and presumably ultimately the responsibility falls to the city council?

Hey, I went to the synagogue today and two surveyors were there. They told me there are plans being put forward to covert it into lots of apartments / flats. Went with my camera and they gave me a full tour haha was great.

Being new should not stop you posting reports, just put a report together in the relevant section (other sites), it will end up in the moderation queue and will be approved in due course.

Nina, why would you feel you would be charged with (as you state on your Blog) Break and Enter ?

I"ve never Broke & Entry into a building yet  & it"s not what we do on here on 28.

I"d suggest a change of words personally, as there"s enough negative press out there as it is concerning this persuit......IMO
