A giant iron mine in Porta Westfalica, visited in 2016, and be gentle with me as this is my first 28DL post! An ideal jaunt from the UK flying to Bremen on Ryanair. The Iron mine opened in the 1930s and peaked before World War 2 although production continued until the 1960s. The scale is huge and it is possible to do a through trip using a barge constructed of plastic tubs to cover the wet bit. An added bonus is a Nazi underground factory part destroyed by the Allies in Porta town itself. Photos of that in due course....
