Trip to the aviation museum at the airfield

Good page on there about the history of the Thor missile sites. Plus information within the museum itself.

Not much left sadly, though talking to the guide at the museum, English Heritage are interested in protecting these three bases. No idea if they plan to restore them? be a lot of work.

Once a week they used to stick one of the missles up, ready in 9mins, 4 1/2mins were operative checks, so i hope if they were ever needed they get them up in time!
