This one's been done before I know, but is to me a fascinating site, so here are some recent pictures.
There have been fortifications at Beacon Hill to protect Harwich and the estuaries of the rivers Stour and Orwell since the era of Henry VIII. The decaying remains left on the site date from the late 19th century onwards.
For a very detailed overview of the sites history check out the Sub Terrania Britannica report at;
http://www.subbrit.org.uk/sb-sites/sites/b/beacon_hill_fort/index.shtml which has a very good map of the remaining structures.
