Report - Heather Mills, Selkirk - Aug 2016

No no not that one!

Founded in 1892 and closed in around 2009. Can't find all that much in the way of history other than it was owned by Edinburgh woolen mills and was one of Selkirk's largest employers in it's heyday.

Ben Cooper got to see the place as it was closing, and his report has a lot more to see than mine!

Yeah I was hoping there may be more lurking in attics and cellars tbh... The loft was full of paperwork but the lions share of it was younger than me so it wasn't up to much!

Shame about the paperwork nothing worse than realising its modern though you know straight away just by the paper quality alone.

There was some 60's stuff, and a ledger which had been filled out from 1945 all the way through to the 80's. No century old epic though I managed to climb up to a little hatch in the main corridor only to find it totally empty and the way up had been a LOT easier than the way down!

Built in 1864 as Cheviot Mill, it was renamed Heather Mills in 1892, changing hands numerous times before closing with the loss of 31 jobs at the beginning of 2009.
