Brief History:
The primary school closed in 2016, due to dwindling numbers, after 60 years of being the heart of a small community.
Since then, various planning applications have all been rejected... so think this gem has some time to still stand & be left alone.

The Explore:
We arrived at the school at about 3pm... after a brief look round we bumped into some absolute yahoos breaking windows inside. Their mates were outside throwing stones around the basketball court. A little stupid seeing as that court is in view of all the neighbouring houses!
Once they came out the room I shone my torch at them and they absolutely froze- after 3 seconds of awkward silence and probably thinking I was police or security i said, “ you alright lads? “ They mumbled, “ yeah, “ and scurried down the corridor.

Later on in the chemistry lab, we suddenly heard them charge down the corridor to the exit hole whispering, “ hurry up. “
I looked at my partner- both thinking this was odd. About 2-3 minutes later we heard someone pacing outside heavily on the stone floor. I whispered to my friend that this wasn’t the kids, it sounded like one man. Up and down he went ... I was already getting suspicious this is why they had legged it.
All of a sudden- the entire front door handle aggressively started turning. We immediately headed for the exit... as we made our way to the perimeter fence two police walked round the corner.

I looked at them cornered, said “ were you here for the kids smashing windows? “.
They said yes and explained the call was about youths damaging the property. He then asked what we were doing... I just gave him a full honest answer. Showed him the photos on my phone, he seemed a little bemused. I asked him if he had ever been inside. He said, “ after 2 years on this patch I never realised you could get in. “
I pointed out most of the windows were open & boards hanging off, hastily adding it’s not a criminal offence & it’s not burglary, or breaking in entry as the property isn’t secured. So we weren’t really doing anything wrong...
After some police exchange I won’t bore you with, I coerced him and his colleague into having a look & asked if we could stay to continue our photography.
For the sceptical readers out there, I’m ex job so knew what to say.
They laughed and said they didn’t have an issue- then asked would we mind going in with them?
I was shocked- but alas, in we went with them for about 20 minutes.
Their radio went off & they had to leave but left us to it quite happily & told us to be careful.

A huge shout out to Surrey police for being top bananas & it goes to show, if you’re upfront and polite- the majority of police haven’t got time/ effort to cause issues. Especially with something so minor.
