On the edge of Fir Tree, a small village near Bishop Auckland in County Durham lies Helme Park Hall Hotel.
Dating back to 1643, Helme Park, original known as Elm Park Hall has had a range of functions throughout its life. During the Second World War it was home to Colonel Stobart, Commandant of the nearby Harperley Hall POW Camp, and then later was Regional Headquarters for the Forestry Commission. Secluded and parking good look around will take about an hour. Still talk's of knocking it down but intact so far.

Been here myself on a few occasions and the police training academy is just down the road and they do local patrols. We stalked the area for a while and there were quite a few police cars checking round.
