Hello! I'm looking for people to explore with in gloucestershire, have just moved to gloucester and not sure what's about yet! My current favourite hobby is attempting to follow abandoned walking routes from old maps, derelict footpaths are fun! I used to work for a local council and would sometimes 'borrow' keys from the property services dept, will try and post pics at some point.

I'm in the same area as you. There is a lot of unusual stuff around here to look at as well as derelict stuff. Some easier to find/get into than others.

Ha. Guess I walked into that one.

If a route has been taken out of public use, you can usually guarantee a few interesting old buildings to explore. If you're looking at a guide book from pre- 1995 and it takes you past an old cottage, there's a strong chance the land has been bought and the occupants kicked out to make way for the farmer's swanky new pile. The other week we were escorted out of a spooky woodland where some rich landowner had decided to turn it into a creepy breeding area for game birds. I get my kicks from being somewhere I'm not supposed to be, I find angry farmers / guard dogs do usually get the heart pumping pretty quickly!

That's good to know. So far everything I've spotted in the city itself seems to have builders working on it. I did read that one of the county's hospitals might be closing soon though..

Hey! I'm moving to Gloucester this month and want to explore too but doing it alone is never as fun. It's been about 5 years since I last did some urban exploring, I used to live in Poole so I've done a few interesting ones around Dorset. I spent this evening having a look around for some new potential places to visit when I found you - sounds like we're in the same boat so get in touch if you wanna meet up :)

Hi all. I used to get out and about to some of the sites in North Wales when I was up that way. I moved to Gloucestershire a few months back and I'm looking to get back into urban exploring. Wouldn't mind joining you lot on some trips!

Sweeeeet let's do it. I want to try out Standish Hospital, I don't know if development has started on it yet but it might be worth a try. Also HMP Gloucester are offering permission tours as development has been delayed on it for now. Willing to travel too. :D

Standish is covered in alarms and boarded up to fuck I'm afraid. You ain't getting in the prison unless you pay.
