Sooo this is my first report. Don't shoot me!
After a few failed attempts at different locations on this particular day, Holly Lodge was a last resort. I'd seen reports on here and had a bit of background history from a friend who used to work at the school, including what the different buildings were used for, (art, music, science etc), also a building for naughty children!! (I wondered what the cage was for!!)
Holly Lodge is believed to have been constructed in the early-1830s and was extended many times since then. In 1922, Liverpool Education Committee bought Holly Lodge and opened it as a girls’ school. Office, hall and classroom extensions were added in the 1920s and 30s, with further detached school buildings being constructed in the grounds, Fremount and Sandheys. Parts of Holly Lodge are not listed due to the later additions, although the main villa building has some beautiful architectural detailing. Sadly, the newer parts are already being prepared to be demolished and being replaced with 60 redrow houses and flats!
Access was easy. The main gate was open and every single door was wide open. We (the boyfriend and I), took three hours walking around the school, not wanting to leave anything unseen. There is some lovely things to see here, including the staircase, windows, tiling and of course the piano :
The building has also been used recently for filming, explaining the random police interview rooms and 'crime scene' tape! Along with some maternity cards and a psychiatric sign
I later returned with a photographer to do a photo session, there was workmen who had begun digging up the tennis courts but we're happy to let us shoot there, so long as we had moved before the boss got there. Still stayed for 4 hours! Will post photoshoot photos when they're ready
