Opening in the 1950s the CHU de Charleroi was a prominent building in the city centre. The purpose built facility had an accident and emergency unit and a large number of operating theatres. Patients were transferred to a brand new hospital a few miles away in Lodelinsart when the hospital closed in October 2014.

@SpiderMonkey, Kriegaffe9 and I got over there just in time as the hospital has since been demolished. A proportion of the site had already gone when we visited, including morgue and many of the operating theatres. Luckily for us a couple still remained, complete with operating tables and lights.

Liking the workers leaving notes in pic 14, love coming across these.

It always makes me think about the workers whenever I see messages like that, and I wonder what the are doing now. Presumably the staff here would have just transferred to the new hospital, but sometimes it's sad to see when you know there wouldn't have been anywhere for them to go.
