After Horton Hospital was converted into housing the water tower remained and dominated the skyline for miles around.

After much deliberation between the council and residents it was decided the best course of action would be to destroy Epsom’s rich heritage and demolish what little remains of the ‘Epsom Cluster’ and demolish the tower brick by brick.

It’s a strange world we live in when you buy a house under the shadow of a historic water tower and then petition to get it demolished.

Been after ticking this off for years so as soon as the external scaffold went up, I was up there. Despite it being the coldest night of the year, it had to be done because this once iconic tower is getting shorter by the day.
