In August 1947 there was a public enquiry about proposals to build the power station.
Construction began in 1950. The Power station was opened by the mayor on 11 May 1956. 1984 saw the closure of the power station, the cooling towers were demolished on 16 October 1988. Most of the buildings were demolished in September 1990.

Now just one building remains, The Derpstation

It's been a scorching hot day and the only way to stay cool was to get on a roof where there would be a bit of wind or to head underground

I decided to head upwards and a stroke of luck had me just up the road from the old powerstation

The place is a complete derp but it had an easy to access rooftop

First was the front gate which stands at about 9 foot tall but is easy to scale as a ladder
