Hi all, first post on here so hope you all like it.

To put you in the picture whilst on holiday in January 2019 myself and my husband visited Gran Canaria. We stayed in Taurito on the south of the island, a beautiful secluded bay very close to Puerto Mogan. In 2017 the main road from Taurito to Puerto Mogan was blocked by a severe landslide, the road the GC-500 has been closed ever since. Although this is bad for the locals. it was an open invitation for me to explore a hotel that I have had my eye on for a few years. So with camera in hand and a few cold ones in my rucksack off I went. Access is very easy to the closed road with a very handy massive hole in the fence as was access to the hotel in question. After talking to a few locals and a very informative tour rep I was told that the hotel began construction in 2007 but work halted in 2009 with no reason as to why. It is a massive site with basically the shell of the building erected. I think it would make a great film set for some kind of apocalyptic themed movie. Anyway on with the photos, hope you enjoy.

The 2008/2009 financial crisis scuppered a significant amount of building work across Europe. At some point I'll put up a thread with the 50 or so half finished hotels I've seen in and around the Balkans.

It's quite sad really, so many signs saying "opening soon 2008!" with the insulation cladding falling away from the rust stained concrete..

There are a lot of hotels in this area that have been engineered into the cliff sides. Guess it must provide a good amount of support for the structure. I loved wandering around this site just on my own very quiet and very hot with all the concrete acting like storage heaters.
