Kew Bridge Steam Museum in West London is a former pumping station that has been turned into a museum. It still contains most of the original victorian steam engines that pumped the water. Once a month the big beam engines are run and the tower is open.
The 200ft Tower contains a set of pipes that the beam engines pumped up to ensure they always had a load in case the water mains burst

More info on the Museum on their website: www.kbsm.org

The 90" and 100" engine house with the tower behind (the size refers to the piston size of the engine)

Looking down - scary!

Nearly at the top. Because the Tower gets narrower towards the top, the last few staircases go at odd angles
