An old one for you. Not sure if the site still stands? There were some signs of demolition in the last report from Ben so guessing it might have gone now.

Still it was a very good site, on the face of it it was quite stripped but as usual with a bit of hunting we found loads of cool hidey holes full of old stuff. The two places that stood out were the site stores, all still there with shelves stacked with spares and equipment and also the labs which had been built up on stilts and forming a 'sub level' which was full of old lab equipment and that sort of thing. Of course like usual this was all in the dark and we spent way to much time rummaging and not enough taking photos!

Ben Cooper said:
"Kilbagie Distillery was founded in 1720, and was visited by Rabbie Burns, but the increasing popularity of gin made it unprofitable, so in 1875 it was converted to a paper mill. It passed through various owners, the last to run it as a paper mill was Inveresk, who own the Inverkeithing and Carrongrove mills (both demolished now) and it closed in 2002. The site is now owned by the Oran waste group who use the modern water-treatment plant installed by Inveresk, but are trying to sell the rest of the site."
