These pictures are from two visits as I wasn't 100% happy with a few of my pics from the first visit.

I also feel I should apologise to the two cars full of people that drove past as I was stood in just my boxers at the side of the car, I didn't have waders with me and got very wet getting to the ladder, my wife would have killed me if I had soaked the drivers seat so stripping was the only option. I know you saw my camera on the tripod and me wearing just my boxers in a car park on a country lane but it wasn't as dodgy as it looked.

The 1932 trespass began at Bowden Bridge quarry near Hayfield. It proceeded via William Clough to the plateau of Kinder Scout, where there were violent scuffles with gamekeepers. The ramblers were able to reach their destination and meet with another group. On the return, five ramblers were arrested, with another detained earlier. Trespass was not, and still is not, a criminal offence in any part of Britain, but some would receive jail sentences of two to six months for offences relating to violence against the keepers

The mass trespass marked the beginning of a media campaign by The Ramblers' Association, culminating in the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000, which legislates rights to walk on mapped access land. The introduction of this Act was a key promise in the manifesto which brought New Labour to power in 1997.

According to the Kinder Trespass website, this act of civil disobedience was one of the most successful in British history. It arguably led to the passage of the National Parks legislation in 1949.

Nice one!
I visited this in July 2009 but can't find the report now - which makes me wonder if I ever posted it.
Back then those shiny brackets weren't installed.

They appear to have an obtuse angle to them, so something for a specific purpose. Not your normal off the shelf Alu' angle.

The brackets are to stop skateboarders and bodyboarders using the tunnel for fun, makes carving up the pipes impossible. You need to take a couple of charged makitas on a dry day to even entertain having a little session ;)
