This Grade II listed building operated as a cinema from 1932 until 1976, and a Gala bingo hall from 1991 until 2010 since when it has been abandoned. All the seats are gone and the entire ground floor has been reduced to rubble for works which seem to have been discontinued. However you still get a sense of grandeur inside and one of the old spot lights has been left behind. I only really photographed the auditorium and the projection room but there are heaps more little rooms and corridors to explore. Visited with Sentinel & Extreme Ironing, who didn't scare the shit out of me by shouting from the stage with a worker's torch when I was in the projection room. Pretty cool place that was way better than any of us were expecting and a relaxed wander about :)

Nice one :thumb Like the orange glow from the projector room.

Do you know what's happening to it now? Is it just being demolished?

Not sure mate, they're meant to be developing it into something or other, it's listed so I don't think it will be completely demolished
Its not a projector its a spot lamp. :)
Meh, you've spoilt it for me now :( Oh well it's a pretty cool spot light :)

There are some boards around the building advertising the developer and their plan. Their website is here - http://www.cnmestates.com/kingstonregal

Like I mentioned on Facebook yesterday there's some good bits to see in the back stage areas to the left and right, I think those areas were more or less left as they were when it was converted to bingo usage. The roof is nice too, a few spaces up there that you can't access from within the building.
