Been wanting this for as long as I can remember,
always thought about it each time the train passed by,
but never felt comfortable attempting it while live.
Once I read about the offical closure,
I began too plan an explore as I know the surroundings well.
With Acid-Reflux in tow.
So achieving the recee on a freezing night,
we decided too sleep in Acid-Refluxs car bad idea as it was freezing, blowing a hurricane & pouring sleet.
I had too eat a whole dish sized triffle too survive. :D
So returning for the explore on a freezing morning, (apologies for asking you too park your car 1 mile away)
we had abit scouting about & decided on a plan.
Once in we notice sounds, then realised we werent alone.
The site is vast, alot easier too play hide & seek with the salvage crew
which were removing & stripping the equipment.
Both stealth & luck played their part,
as CCTV was evident & secca were patrolling randomly each 15 - 45 mins.

Lackenby Steel Works, by stranton visited with @ACID- REFLUX

Founded in 1917 as an iron works, by Dorman Long
become British steel in 1967 & Corus in 1998 - 99.
Then Tata in 2007 & SSI in 2012, the latter went bankrupt in October 2015 & closed the site
which included the Coke Ovens too the west & Blast Furnace too the east.
Tata owns 2 / 3 of the site which it uses as a beam mill, part of its long products division, while
SSI owned 1 / 3 of the site which lies empty.
Its been closed about a month & there already stripping the equipment, its such a shame.

Well done yes as Dave W said its the BOS plant which opened up in the early 1970s. Great pics, its difficult to believe they are already dismantling it very sad state of affairs. Was chatting to secca just outside here about 3 to 4 weeks ago and he reckoned there have been people gaining access all the time i got the impression they are much busier now than when the plant was operational.

With Acid-Reflux in tow.

You Fucking what ?? Cheeky Twat !!! :Not Worthy

I was going to say nice pics mate & comment on the fact that mine are totally different (obviously with us being in different locations on-site dodging different workers etc etc before doing the headless Chicken escape run as Secca drove past us. But you can "Bollocks" now :D

Seriously though, after surviving multiple Snowstorms, severe Wind-chill in the Car never mind out of it & doing extended hikes (for no apparent reason WTF ) the SAS would be proud of. Marine Police & multiple Secca patrols, i"m surprised we managed anything at all lol

I"m pissed off really as i was just getting into my swing, my heart rate had finally settled down to about 180 BPM (& obviously with the bonus of leaving you ;) & thinking i was in an empty shed alone only to have it ruined by that worker stood below me on his phone as i took some long exposure shots :banghead i"ve never taken so few pics from a site for that much wear & tear on my Heart !

Your pics have come out better than i expected TBH & it certainly makes a change having the lights on, although i found it a little un-nerving being chased by my own shadows lol

And nice to know the correct name of the place, where you allowed me to "TAG ALONG"
