I was on my way to Macclesfield Forrest with the dog and spotted the signs for Langley, remembering the recent report i thought i would look the place up.

I wasn't expecting too much but it turned out better than i expected, certainly not epic by any stretch but sometimes it's the details and the bizarre things that get left behind that make it enjoyable for me.
What i expected to be a quick look was an hour or so and earned me a lecture of a local curtain twitcher for leaving the dog in the car for so long, fair do's though it's not something i usually do.

The place is also a bit of a tardis as it looks tiny from the road but is much bigger once you get in, nothing really remains of it's original life as a silk printing mill but a reasonable wander when your not expecting much, looks like it closed in 2005 as that was the last calender i saw.

Langley Mill, founded by William Smith in 1826, became the biggest silk printing, dyeing and finishing works in the world.

Langley Mill later went on to become Specialised Automobile Services, a specialist wire wheel manufacturer for classic and modern cars.
