The Explore
One of them spare of the moment explores after a visit to the Canon cinema in the city centre a friend and fellow explorer tipped us off about an old church in Wavertree so we headed on down.. Surprised to see a fully in tact organ considering how long this has been abandoned!

The History
The Lawrence Road Methodist Church was erected in 1903 and is an attractive Italianate building constructed of high quality red brick, with plentiful stone dressings and elegant arched stained glass windows. It retains great character and makes a very positive contribution to the quality of the local built environment.

Nice set of shots, it's bigger than it looks from the outside this place isn't it!

It's correct name though is Protestants Martyrs Memorial Church ;)
Thanks mate, I was quite surprised by the size of it once we were inside..

Didn't know that was its name, think its known locally as Lawrence Road Methodist, found the it on the local paper website - http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liverpool-news/bid-convert-historic-liverpool-church-10300103

Nice to know the real name though, cheers for that :) Can you change the title possibly? Cant see to change the title now

That's a lovely place even despite the damage - well done for getting in there! I like pic. 8 especially, showing all that wood panelling and the organ ; the placement of the latter reminds me of St Anthony's on Scotland Rd. Architecturally it's a bit like Toxteth library inside ; from the outside a bit like Grand Central on Renshaw St.,which was originally built as a Methodist church too. I wonder if it's the same designer? I hope the conversion plans succeed - it'd be a shame to lose this little gem!

Dave.
