Le Blockhaus d'Eperlecques
museum
Ok: Up there in Pas de Calais,
far from home, on my own, money nearly gone, what do I do? I visit some stone
go see some touristic war stuff I thought,
never know when you come back here
this pic report shows one of a few places I visited in my two days up there

Le Blockhaus d'Eperlecques, a big bunker building, built by the Nazis in WW2
their plan was shooting V2 rockets from there on my english friends,
an idea, I have to say, I do not agree with.
there are other ways to stop hooliganism, Arsenal or Manchester United
and Chelsea wasn't russian yet.
The English didn't like that too, so they sent some airplanes and did a little bombing
and the bunker site got hit a bit and could not be finished as planed.
construction changed and only a production of liquid oxygen was started for a while.

there's a story I am not quiete sure anymore whether it was from this place:
after having having heavy attacks on their building sites,
they startet to built the massive concrete roofs first,
lifted them up then to build the walls and could work then like in a shelter.
here or not I forgot
if you want better history, read somewhere else or have a visit yourself

I am looking to get to visit this one soon. Did you get to La Coupole while you were there?

That Nazi concrete, so much of it in that area. La Coupole is one of my favourites around there.

yes, La Coupole, Blockhaus, Englandkanone Mimoyecques and Batterie Todt
Mimoyecques is a can go, not a must, but I went up on the hill and took some shots of where the canon came out,
now blastet concrete blocks in holes. But be careful, that is private property and going there is unwanted, even for the museum people.
La coupole is interesting, also the museum, but since the museum is inside, you can not anymore see the size of the space.
Wanted to stay over night at the parking, which is possible (some caravans stayed there), but when I came back from buying beer,
the gate was closed. No secret walk up so.
Batterie Todt is a museum too, not bad and a few hundred meters further theres a Batterie left , you can go in, in the bushes a blasted one.
All together doable in one day, as long as you don't want to do private research.
Nice area, you can see England from nearby. If I were from England, I would do it in a two day hop via cheap tunnel offer.
! some will close in winter, I think
I will post some photos of them soon.

Yes, if you drive with open eyes you see really lots, big or small.
I took me more or less one full day there, by far not enough.
Should do some camping there and just drive around.
+ I was not prepared in advance what to visit and where to go
