Report - Lexicon tower, 377ft, Islington, London - December 2014

Intro

What a way to send the year of than be sitting 200ft above the fireworks, Wasn't sure if we'd make this but we did, and it was definitely worth it. Enjoy

What's Lexicon?

Lexicon is a 36 storey mixed development tower in Islington, it stands at 377ft n 261 City road. It has recently just reached it's structural completion.

Lexicon, delivered by Skidmore Owings & Merrill - the engineers behind the world’s tallest building Dubai’s Burj Khalifa - is situated in a prime location bordering Angel, Shoreditch, Clerkenwell, and Farringdon. Its 36-storey tower defines the spirit of the development and its 146 one, two and three bedroom private apartments take their lead from the culture and energy of the Lexicon's location. No other development in Islington is taller, bolder or more inspiring.

The visit

After doing another tower next door not too long ago I had this on my list. NYE arrived and a quick few messages were exchanged and I had Sat_driver and UrbanAlex by my side wandering the streets of London in search of a good view point, we checked a few others, had a quick climb up a small crane in the area and though, what the hell, let's do Lexicon. To our surprise it was very uneventful in regards to secca despite hearing stories of helis and rozzers and all that. we got up and there we were, i was back up in the London skyline and wasn't it beautiful.

Suddenly we heard a few noises and pretty soon a figure appeared, bizarrely another mate of mine, Felix, decided to give it a climb the same night and thus there was 4 of us. What a night, the single best way to end an epic year IMO.

Haha, surprisingly you don't see that many from there. Plus it's so high the fireworks go off way below you. Didn't get many close ups. I'll add a few later

They looked a bit naff on the TV coverage TBH bad camera angles IMO

hah no I couldn't, would've been a laugh though :

The fireworks weren't that amazing to be honest, the shard did some count down thing that was cool, best thing was seeing all the drunk locals
