Lightship LV72
Visited with @Ethaan and @Hugh Man today and it was actually quite fun. We got to look around, take photos and climb around. You can't get to all rooms unless you want to get wet due to the water in the lower levels. It is also really muddy and can be slippery on board.

History
The Lightship LV72 was used by the Canadians during D-Day to storm Juno Beach during the Invasion of Normandy. It is around 112 years old and is owned by a steel company but they haven't broken it down and it is believed that they have no plans to actually break it down for steel.

Nice looking mooch and something a bit different :thumb

Was good to see that safety was paramount on the ladder access and helmets were worn :D
HA Ha, me and my friends cycled down and we had helmets, I don't think they wanted to leave their stuff cos there were these 'chavs' who were running up these stone piles and playing airsoft. I left my helmet with my tripod at the front of the ship XD.

Pity you couldn't get to the engine room, would have liked to have seen what powered it. I work on ship's engines in Skem. The big vessel in the 9th picture would have been used to start the engine. A compressor would have filled it and the pistons pushed down via an air start valve at 5000psi - some of our pistons weigh 400lb so you can understand why the high pressure

Nice to know! Thanks. I would have liked to gone down further but didn't really want to bring extra clothes nor risk getting my camera wet XD.
