Stumbled across this one whilst on our way to another place, was surprised we got access fairly easily.
Built in 1859, was part of a huge asylum but now this and one other building are the only ones to remain, the other due for demolition any day but this one is grade 2 listed.
Now only inhabited by pigeons which did scare me at first as there are so many I actually thought someone else was in the building, but sadly there are also rather alot of dead ones aswell .....
It is an interesting huge place, mostly natural decay rather than vandalism which is nice, a few fire places but nothing else inside, does feel a little creepy but possibly that is the height of the huge ceilings and lack of light, but it is reportedly haunted.

Glad to see this place being done by others, it’s a rotten building but still cool, I spoke to the owners of this and apparently, when they demolish the other building down the road, this one is coming down also.

Rotten as a pear, thats why it will be demolished in the end. I used to live opposite this site from 1995 - 2000 and also worked on the conversion of the main buildings for a good few years on and off. These old nurses accommodation blocks have been empty since 1996 - 97'ish.

Some nice natural decay here. I dont see the point of listing if demo can still go ahead. That row of old nurses houses are they all the same inside? Look well built. We are a wasteful society

Considering it’s been abandoned for well over 20 years and has had a fire, it’s doing well, lots of paint peal ect but the place is holding up well, shame to see it go as it’s a local of mine! It will be gone in 2020
