History
Built in the early 1940`s,Linford Hospital was used to treat TB.After closure, the building lay empty for many years before becoming a private nursing home with approximately 100 beds, however in around 2010,there was a raid by the Border Force Agency who arrested 13 suspected illegal immigrants,9 of which were deported, and the others released on immigration bail.Four members of staff were arrested on suspicion of neglect and were bailed.A fifth person was arrested on suspicion of theft but this was unrelated to the immigration charges.Linford Park is owned by Northdown Estates Ltd,whose property director is Margaret Jordan.During the police raid, the standard of care given to one resident was questioned which led police to arrest Mrs Jordan,78 year old Mathew Joseph and a 62 year old man from Christchurch on suspicion of neglect. They were later released on bail.Emergency staff were brought in but some residents were moved out immediately and the rest were moved out gradually by social services and ambulance crews. The nursing home was rated as adequate and given a one star rating in the last inspection by the care commission.
