Have you seen anything like this before? In Castle Street in Liverpool right now there is a rare chance to explore the quite extensive subterranean quarters of a large bank as it is held by protestos who have taken it over to use as a homeless shelter and to provide food and shelter for those sanctioned etc as well.

Down there with the vault etc, it all rather resembles Q's favourite hangout from the classic Bond movies, there is this very eerie, and profoundly forboding narrow bathroom tile lined tunnell that seems to link up a couple of parts of the underground complex, it is complete with menacing gates which if they were to clang shut could seal your fate down there, although quite perturbed down there I was immediately reminded of the fortress boss levels from Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past

Take a look;

What do you think it was about, preventing a getaway of money and valuables once held?

Unfortunately you didnt video the best bit, the vault and its door, I seen some nice shots of it posted yesterday on wikkiwirral.
Thanks for sharing this with us and hopefully the occupiers will be a little more sympathic to the building than the occupiers were to the Tinlings and victoria chapel buildings although looking at your video that seems unlikely.

Yes well I might try and get there again if they haven't barricaded it off now! I have now heard that they are now cleaning up all the written things on the walls, I went as a socialist so I was even part of it. They are starting to get nervy about photography due to their impending eviction (obvious though that would happen!), but hope to still get down there again, I also did views from the roof.

Also I'd like to do a radio interview with anybody about what UrbExing is all about, so if anyone's interested let me know!

Just looking at other pictures from the Bank on the net and in the media and the place has been graffed into oblivion , it makes my fucking piss boil to see a lovely old building just vandalised like this in the name of doing a good turn by giving the homeless of the City somewhere to sleep, how the fuck can anyone believe that their primary cause is to help the homeless when this is what they do and TBH why the hell do it in spring/summer when its warm instead of doing it in Winter when the homeless people actually die from the cold....fucking mindless vandalism.

I've no idea why it's so narrow,but FWIW somebody told me that there is a now-sealed tunnel going from here to the NatWest opposite,used to transport money to/from the BoE. Whether that's true or just another of those stories IDK,but the NatWest looks like it has a sub-basement level as if you look down the lightwell grate at the front,it's a far enough drop for two below-ground levels,which would give enough depth for a tunnel under the street.

Dave.

This ended yesterday after the Five-o stormed the building and guess what, the Robin Hood type Love activists have proper fucked the building over, they are no better than metal Fairies, they have stolen a copper WW1 memorial plaque,also dismantled and stolen the mechanism from the buildings historic Working clock and stolen lead off the roof just for good measure, all this ontop of graffing the place and shitting and pissing all over the show.
