Visited with Williamski
Williamski dropped me a message to see if anything was going on, and I had the urge to go and have a wander around an old hospital, so it was off to Wales to check out Lluesty Hospital. Expecting a nice relaxed explore, we jumped the gate and climbed in through a broken window on a small part of the building. We walked straight upstairs and immediately heard a van pull up outside.. We froze and listened to two men get out of the van and open a door before walking into the room below us. “Looks like we’re gonna have to board this one up tooâ€. They stood there talking for a minute then left, and with that we bailed over to the main building. Not a very relaxed start haha.
History:
Built between 1838-1840 as a workhouse, the Grade II listed building was converted and extended for use as a hospital. It was most recently used for the rehabilitation of the elderly, but closed in 2008 as it was replaced by a new hospital in the area.
After the initial encounter with security, we had no problem exploring the main block. We didn’t bother going over to the newer building as people were working inside (we watched them go out to their van and go back in several times). We started off in a modern area, but upon crossing to another building it was like a time warp.
