I realise that this has been covered on the forums before, but thought I'd post recent pics. I had to head over Stratford way to get some art framed and thought I'd pay the Airfield a visit. As you can see from these photographs the vegetation has really taken a hold of the Shackleton now, and although they make for some interesting photographs it is perhaps a little sad. But then, nothing lasts forever. I also had a snoop around the sheds behind it, and found one to contain, inexplicably, an office chair, half a hatchback and an unpalatable quantity of bird shit.

Yep. Shame it's going to be flattened for housing. There used to be a nice collection of planes around that Shackleton years ago. One of the family used to have a Jet Provost based there but it's been in decline for ages. No real infrastructure anymore but the main runway was in use for the drag racing and a busy microlight set up.

Such a shame its going to be flattened....paid a visit last year to have a mooch around, don't forget whats left of a Meteor behind the Shackleton. Hope to get there in the next few weeks for a photoshoot with the Mrs ;)

Many thanks, I was planning a trip taking a mate for mosey around, I called last Ctober. It's a 70 mile journey, so didn't fancy a fail
