Hi, so I bought a Maglite for a really cheap price

The torch also doesn't have any kind of lens or glass in front of the bulb,

Then it is not, actually a maglite - it's a fake

As you will have gathered from the replies - the maglite is the best you can buy (but only if reading this in 1978)

As people say - go cree - either cheap Chinese, or if you have too much cash burning a hole in your pocket - go Lenser P7(.2)
