Wiki History

Malsis School located at a mansion known as Malsis Hall. It was a co-educational independent pre-prep and preparatory school for pupils aged three to 13 years. The school was founded in 1920,and closed due to falling pupil numbers in 2014. The Hall is Grade II listed.

Popped over for a mooch to see what demolition work was happening on site now that planning permission has been given to build houses on the site. Surprised to see not much has been done as yet and what an epic explore it was. Builders are in but as a weekend explore I was lucky for it to be empty.

Decent first report of a lovely building.

One tip, try putting a space between each photo so we're only looking at one at a time.

Love this! Glad to hear they aren't knocking the main building down in favour of some identakit box new builds.

Hey Bronk21, yeah it was last week, they are knocking down the modern part of the building which has started but the old part is staying put and being turned into a nursing home as far as I know.

I wrote on the other post about Malsis about how I was at school there from 1955-60, 120 boys all boarders. We lived in nearby Skipton in those days. Although I've driven into the grounds I haven't seen the inside since then and I was aware that it had been closed. I remember all those rooms, the painted ceilings, the big staircase, not the pool which hadn't been built in my day. The grounds were well tended, with a cricket field (see pic) to the left of the front, short grass everywhere, a tennis court at the front down stairs through gardens, rugby fields in the grounds. It was a thriving institution in those days, long waiting list for boys, and the headmaster was a former England rugby captain. I took this picture while I was there, probably around 1958/9. Thank you this brief glimpse into my past.

A quick look on Google maps shows that the new part is gone, the old part is still there.
