I visited this on the way to Scotland as it was not far off route. I know it's bee done to death and was starting to get trashed. But it still had a nice appeal to it with some nice corridors, nice classrooms and some very nice tiling about the place. It was a nice easy in and a very relaxed explore. I went back a few weeks later with my two friends as they fancied it and was well sealed up again.
Malt by grammar school was established in 1931 being built on the site of the old Rolleston hall. It was officially opened in 1932. In the sixties more buildings were added to prepare it as a comprehensive school. It became an acaddamey in 2009 due to poor ofstead reports. The academy was the first of its kind in the Rotherham area. In 2012 a 10.9 million pound contract was awarded to BAM construction. A new school was built and some buildings refurbished. A lot of buildings were demolished to make way for new buildings. The old grammar school was due for demolition along with the clock tower. As it was not listed it nearly went ahead. The locals kicked off and it was saved, since then their have been several plans for it, but it still sits derelict. In 2017 a fire took hold in the main hall areas, three fire engines attended and managed to get it under control.
