Had a mooch around this site today with my boyfriend as it about ten minutes away from my me! Can't actually find any info on this house anywhere, other than other people's reports on the place. The building is called Manor Farm House and to the best of my knowledge used to be a smallish farm. There is a crest on the front of the building which must have meant something but info on this place is frustratingly difficult to find.
I didn't venture upstairs as the floors above had fallen through in places, but the wallpaper and the carpeting in the house had some really interesting patterns. In four of the downstairs rooms there were fireplaces, and I really love the red carpeting on the stairwell. Would have been really cool to see what this place looked like in it's hey-dey, it is huge inside.
Was rather disgusted to find someone had taken a dump in the toilet, but at least the stained glass window behind it looked pretty.

Ah Manor Farm, i got a rather abusive collection of emails and facebook messages from the family of the owner a couple of months back. They were accusing me of all sorts (breaking in, stealing stuff etc etc). They did not like it when I pointed out a few home truths to them either.

The area is so easily accessible, there's no longer a fence blocking the land and the door isn't locked, also there's nothing you can really steal. Who were they? Such an ominous place with that crest,
I can't really imagine who must have lived there.

One of the people who contacted me said they were the grand daughter of the former owner, they were on about how trespassing is illegal (wrong), that breaking in is disrespectful (walked through the front door), how the place had been trashed (implying that it was something to do with me)...basically all the standard stuff we get accused of.

I basically told them if they spent more time a few years ago securing the place then maybe they would have nothing to complain about.

I remember buying hay from here as a kid with my dad. The place stank of cats. As far as I'm aware the building belonged to the new town development and her grandfather rented it from them as did everyone in these properties. ICI owned everything in runcorn. Most of these places went for auction a few years back including the Tudor looking cottage round the bend and the right hand semi round the other bend. Once all the farms land had been taken for the offices it was useless hence its unfortunate demise.
