Whilst I was working in the Merrion Hotel last week, thought I would share a few photographs of how the hotel looks nearly 2 years on since it was closed. We were told the whole place need a full re-wire, and re installation of most things in then costing up to 5million quid...ouch!! therefore noone wants to take a chance or has that kinda cash kicking about. You can tell the hotel is in dyer need of attention, its all very 70s deco, even the board room i visited has bright green carpet and wallpaper with oak furniture.
The hotel is part of the Merrion Centre, central Leeds. It was opened in 1964 and had a bowling alley, cinema (open air), a market, car park and other major retail shops. The hotel was closed in 2011. Town Centre Securities manage the premises, hence the reason for getting in the place.
Bare with me on the pics, only had the trusty iphone with me at the time as I forgot my big cam
..enjoy!!
