Mid Wales Asylum, Talgarth – May 2012

Visited with Crim and Vance. Due to illness and work its only now I’m able to get this report up, hope you enjoy.

Everyone know the history, finally closed in 1999, sold in 2009 and is undergoing stripping and demolition. Sad day :( We didn’t get to explore everything, we struggled to get into one of two of the buildings and completely forgot about the outbuildings by the end of the day. Derp.

Still, photos; hope I didnt put too many images up, I just couldnt whittle it down any further XD

The cable trench leading off to the bottom right connects to a set of outlying substructures.

After a little while stalking around the exterior we finally found a, surprisingly boring, way inside and started exploring.

Vance kicked this door open from the inside and had quite a shock:

Someone had their last supper here… Sinister:

And watched a little TV afterwards:

In one bulding we found this wonderfully intact set of boilers:

Two floors above the boilers was a lovely little ward:

Gotta have a chair shot:

And I just loved this picky, its my new desktop background:

At the end we swung around to the main hall and got some shots around there:

Though we only had time to explore half the site we had a great time and are considering heading back to see everything else we missed.

An hour? What a wimp.

Massive shout out to Hidden for giving me the kick in the ass I needed to get moving, thanks mate! It was an amazing day out.

Oh and by the way, avoid the local farmer if you're thinking of going :wanker
