Hi,

Not sure what that list is, but it certainly isn't decommissioned sites - a large number of those stand out to me as still in use, and some I know there are no plans to close any time soon. Interested to know more though!

That list is out of context without the referance.

Heres the page, but whats the referance number?

http://deposits.parliament.uk/

Edited to add - Seems to be

DEP2011-1084 Commons 29/06/2011 Ministry of Defence DEP2011-1084.XLS
Table showing Ministry of Defence sites, by local council. 3 p.

Where is the reference to decommissioned sites? as most are certainly still in use.

Also look at:

DEP2011-1206 Commons 13/07/2011 Ministry of Defence DEP2011-1206.XLS
Table showing Ministry of Defence bases, garrisons and barracks in England and Wales, arranged by parliamentary constituency. 32 p.

The majority if not all of those sites are still live. However I also notice a large number of them are also mentioned on an email that was sent round DII a while back mentioning some locations that where being proposed for reduction or removal.

I may be putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5 on this one.

I was trying to find info on Met Office site @ Pease Pottage and found it on this list which is closed. I assumed it was a list of site closed or in threat of closing.

Since when has a Building Listing saved a MoD site from closing? only limits its use.

i was in the t.a & a.c.f at preston barracks and when the council bought the land the cadet building had to remain as it was a listed building as it was a former hospital.

I believe the Crowborough Site refers to King Standings. The Place has a massive great transmitter and also serves as a Nuclear Bunker with offices on the deeper levels for use by Government members should Nuclear War erupts. Currently, the main purpose of the place is as a Police Training facility where the majority of types of Police Officers are trained. I.e: "Standard", Riot, Armed, Anti-Terror etc.
