History
Taken from a previous report; The hospital, situated on the south-western outskirts of Bangor, on Hendrewen Road, was established in 1895 as an isolation hospital. It was built in response to the growing need for the local council to tend to the community health needs of the town after Bangor received its charter of Incorporation in 1883. The hospital was finally abandoned in 2009, having functioned as a hospital for the mentally infirm in its final years. It was surveyed by Gwynedd Archaeological Trust in 2010, in advance of demolition.
The hospital was built on land that formerly belonged to the Penrhyn Estate and was constructed in a vernacular style. It comprised hospital wards, an administration block, garage and water tower (all built in 1895); an additional hospital wing, built in 1937; and a link corridor (built in 1991).

Given its isolated location, the level of damage, vandalism and destruction was truly remarkable. Good for nothing but the bulldozer now, it astonished me that the place could be so wrecked in only 8 years since closure!

The explore
Went solo for this one; for some reason I decided to come to Bangor on the train which meant an early start of 05:10 out of Wolverhampton! I arrived in Bangor for 07:30 and after a 30 minute walk dodging tractors on the country lanes I arrived at the derp for just after 08:00...

This made me smile; the place is totally trashed and falling down, but the curtain toppers are still in place!

Nice shots, good effort!

I have a shot very similar to your #9 but I camped out and got the sunrise beaming in through the door at the end. The colours really pop in that corridor.

Thanks mate; I do like a good corridor shot!

As you say there are some vivid colours in parts of the site; thinking of this corridor and the yellow in the link corridor (I tired to get shots of the link corridor but I wasn't happy how it came out)

I know what you mean. Generally when I take photos I edit them after to represent how I personally perceived the site and colours at the time as opposed to just how the places looks on camera unedited.
