The cathederal of industry discovered by Oxygen Thief. I really wanted to see this place, and it did not disappoint, despite the fact that little bastards have destroyed the fine art deco enterance hall and offices. This is a pity as it could have made a great conversion. What was a miracle was the one room that had survived the blaze was the room which contained the 1960's cheques and finanial records. The reciepts stapled to the company headed cheques were a facinating glimpse into the past world of company reps and managers, who larged it up in fancy hotels drinking scotch and dining in the finest restuarants around the world. What a job that must have been!

The sheds were huge... and although very empty they had the same feeling as Templeborough did, just industry on a vast scale. Imagine that same shed with huge lathes spinning, the wooden floor covered in curly swarf...

Stripped, burned and vandalised, Mitchells and Shackleton is still an great explore for those with an intrest in our vanashing large scale industry.

The shed floor is made of wooden blocks. With the glass roof smashed, the blocks have expanded in the rain, and with no-where to go they have sprung up in vast cracks. The pressure must have been immense.
