Germany is the "wurst"

A sortie into one of the massive "Hochbunker" (above ground bunkers) still dotting the German countryside (mainly because they can't figure out a way to get rid of the damn things, the greatest minds in British, American, and Soviet explosives development having repeatedly tried and failed).

This is a 2-story structure, built in 1942, and designed to protect workers from a nearby factory in case of air raid. With typical Teutonic build quality (and lack of any aesthetic sensibility whatsoever), it appears to have done the job, judging by the great big chunks gouged out of the side by direct bomb hits without any noticeable damage inside.

Also, there's a really angry cat inside and some hilarious looking noxious green shit. Whee. We should totally start a pool on who gets the most creative form of cancer in their old ages, from pigeon shit, asbestos, toxic waste, lead, rust, dust, mud, and other goodies in these places.

The ventilation system looks like it could be polished up and put right back into operation, give or take a bit of asbestos removal (apparently you're not supposed to touch the crank handles because they'll spew out a noxious dust cloud of the vile stuff.) Note the makers' plaque, which states that it is permitted for installation in accordance with the German air raid protection law article 8. The "RL" on one of the plaques stands for "Reichs-Luftschutz", the standardizing body for such structures.
