Of course the history of this grand old asylum has been covered many many times over, as have the corridors by the footsteps of a great proportion of Urban explorers alive today...

Anyhow, after a mega self induced fail at Lostock Power Station, KooK and I decided to follow the signs on the M56 for “NORTH WALES”...

A short country stroll later, we found ourselves emerging amongst the ornate Stone and Welsh slate hewn asylum. Unfortunately the old girl has seen much better days and many of the upper floors, especially in the buildings adjoining the entrance, have given way to Mother Nature and old Father Time.

Highlight of the day was scaring the pants off four Sixth form age students, along with who could only have been their Dad or teacher, taking photos in the upper buildings between the chapel and the plant/service area... “Are there dogs...?" they quivered.

Here are a few photos from the day.

Thanks for taking time to have a look.

P.S here's a photo from the weird brine cooling lagoon next to Lostock that we hit up before failure.
