Hi Everyone,

Thought I'd do a report on this infamous house.
This place was not on my hit list, I went to see the Willington Cooling towers firstly and then Milford Mill. Time spare and so close it would have been rude not to.

It's in a beautiful spot in Derbyshire, my god that county and it's little towns are out of this world. The walk to it was calm and enjoyable with no maximum effort. I'm sorry to the sheep that gave me evils as I walked through their grazing patch and then bolted like I was going to roast them.
Research pays off, the sight of the house and out buildings now camouflaged with trees brings a sigh of relief.

I don't know how I felt about this place, you know what, I still don't. I usually find these places mind boggling but it's just feels too messed with, staged for those likes on social media. I preferred the walk, the views, the amazing brick work of this house, which is a credit to itself, it's absolutely solid.

New Barn Farm is on the Alderwasley Estate and has 97 acres. It was mainly a milk farm. One family seemed to live here, the Sandars family, which the last occupant being a Miss Sanders, leaving around 1979/1980.

Nice report. That old postcard is rather tasty too - I have a lot from my local area but nothing that looks as oddly staged as that one.

Just too staged this one, but still worth a look if in the area

I specifically meant the postcard being staged rather than the contents of the abandoned buildings.
If you haven't seen it (I guess you have judging by your use of the postcard) there is a fascinating page about the family and the farm on the wirksworth.org.uk website

ahh get you. Yeah I read that whole page and then some! I'm with you on that because I very much doubt the family would have been in their best clothes like that. Still I saw the article someone wrote about the postcard as he actually bought it, which makes you wonder if he knows its become what it has today.

Yup....well done. Everyone will be able to find this place now.
Still took me a while with this info.
It's been called new barn farm since 2014 on here... So not a secret.
Everyone has been here.
Also old threads have the address on it too so don't come at me with this when you're about a year to two years late.
I've not said anything anyone else hasn't.
