Always have been interested in looking around derelict and abandoned buildings.
I had always visited arena Essex over the years when it was open.
It opened in 1978 and closed in 2018.
Sunday 4 November 2018 was the last meeting ever to be held at the raceway. It shut its gates for the last time after being offered £8 million for the site by housing developers. Demolition work on the stadium began in November 2020.
When I was there, there had been some demolition but the track itself and some buildings where still standing.
Only had a quick look around as it wasn’t planned, with that wearing shorts wasn’t the best idea! so will be going back to have a proper look.
Got a few places to go and have a look at next week too.
