Its been a great non stop week im knackerd my other half is on the verge of leaving me and my car needs a good service lol.

Anyway explored with jackal
Theres always been a fort of some kind here since roman times, the fort that stands today was completed in 1871 ,it was also used during both world wars.

Last time we were here there was security and an old dog so stealth was the order of the day. After gaining access through a neck braking walk {ill say no more} we were in ,the usual stuff, lights, cctv and a lit up room where mr security may have been sleeping.
Highlites was finding the stores with loads of ww2 bits and bobs, phones, gas masks, hats, clothing, shells, you name it it had it.
And no ,we didnt take anything but the phone would have looked great on my fire place.

Re: Newhaven Fort Report 1/3/07

there was actually an ROC Post up there as well at one point.. all gone now:

Nuclear Monitoring Posts – Subterranea Britannica

quote:

Location 30 yards back from the cliff top and 50 yards west of the coast guard look-out, close to WW2 gun emplacements. (The post was constructed here against the advice of local ROC members because of the clay soil. It had a permanent water problem)

Description DEMOLISHED. No trace. All features above ground have been demolished and the shaft was filled with shingle. The beds and other items were left underground as the damp had rendered them useless.
