Hello all, I am a youngen here from Lancaster. I've been urbexing off and on for a few years at the local spots and as I'm moving to Manchester for uni, thought joining this forum would be useful to get out & about and explore some more cool sites.
I've visited places like Ridge Lea (old mental hospital from the 1800s, which only stopped being used by the NHS in 2016) and the A1 Supaskips building (large industrial building that was used by a skip company until 2022 when their license was revoked, and it was then burnt down in Dec. Of 2023, but I thankfully visited in March of that year, so I have a few cool pictures of the giant pile of illegal waste and some pics of the inside before the fire damage.
I also managed to visit Skerton High School, built originally in 1934 and was active until 2014 but sadly got demolished in 2024. I was able to get there a few times prior to it's demolition, and went one of said times with one of my friends who used to go to school there. I have a few pictures from there too I'll post here.
Im not super well versed on the history of these sites before I visited and apart from general knowledge. If anyone here knows more about these sites, please comment below or any questions for me also please leave a comment. I'll attach the photos in order of mention in my post.
Ridge lea:
Here's a screen grab from a corrupted video I sadly no longer have (most of my ridge lea footage is like this, cloud storage sucks) from the underground areas of Ridge Lea
SupaSkips building:
This is the main area you enter into, and you can understand why the Environment Agency decided to revoke their license.
Interestingly, there was a lot of polish signage, meaning (obviously) there were a lot of polish workers
This isn't particularly clear, but it's actually the cab of some sort of lorry/truck they used for training I assume, or maybe just the husk of an old lorry? Either way cool.
They still had a very well stocked and clean store room, which I think is neat.
This is to the right of the first SupaSkips building, the rubbish went literally to the ceiling, sorry for the bad picture.
Skerton High:
One of the science labs with Vault 22 sorts of experiments (the roof caved in lol)
And that's all the files I can attach, I look forward to getting out some more as I haven't had anywhere to go for the past few years since everything gets knocked down or burnt down!
