A beautiful day and a lovely relaxed visit.

History Bit:
The Oakmoor railway station which is situated just up from where the photos were taken is now a closed railway station in the Churnet Valley, Staffordshire. The station was opened in 1849 and was part of the Churnet Valley Line, The station remained open until 1965 when all services were withdrawn, freight traffic from Oakamoor Quarry continued until 1988.
The track is the end of the line for the Churnet Valley Railway which runs currently from Cheddleton station and run along the valley of the river Churnet through varied scenery to Consall, Kingsley and Froghall stations.
Beyond Kingsley and Froghall station, the line continues to Oakamoor sidings which are used for storage of equipment. On the 21 September 2008, the first public service for 20 years left Oakamoor with a shareholder's special. The entire line was double track in pre-preservation days.
