I have had my eye on this place for years i knew it had been disused for some time just never got round to having a look. A few years ago i ventured out one night to have a look and night time was considered best as this is situated within the very much live steel works site of new owners SSI formerly Tata Steel, Corus and of course British Steel and before that which this loco shop dates to Dorman Long. I figured i wanted to see the place in daylight to see what i missed before was worth the effort but i wont be going back. This is a live site just a warning to anyone who may want a look security do regular rounds and the place has ball cameras everywhere now. Not a lot remains of the shed some offices and main shed area largely stripped apart from the odd item. The fist pic is from the early to mid sixties and the Dorman Long period.
The two shunters on the pic are the 0-4-0 diesel hydraulic Sentinels.
This is shed now from almost the same spot as above looking a bit tatty, the big gas holder in the background long since flattened.
At the other end of the shed, in the distance is the newly reopened BOS plant.
There was a few of these weighing machines sitting on the shop floor.
The inspection pits long since filled in. It had four roads.
Down stairs empty office.

Just to finish off with a couple from the earlier night visit from a few years ago.
Had to be quick with this final one so not the best quality. I am sure this place hasnt been covered on here before. Not much left of the once huge sprawling Cleveland works which had blast furnaces coke ovens etc etc this is a small reminder of what was once here.
