Oldgate House, Huddersfield - June 2012

Visited with drhowser

Oldgate House is a dilapidated 9-storey office building within the town centre built to a high specification in the 1970's. A few years back it used to house some Kirklees Council departments, but recently it has mainly been occupied by pigeons and metal thieves.

Plans for the expansion of the local Kingsgate Shopping Centre threaten to see the building demolished. These plans would also see the adjacent Palace Theatre consumed and redeveloped within the project. Alongside the Parish pub.

Being an office building, the interiors would be pointless to document, so the objective was simply to get to the roof.

Shouts to drhowser for driving me about, listening to me waffle on about Huddersfield, spotting our access and letting me smoke in his car. Legend.

Thanks,
