Had a revisit to Parc last week and ventured a little further along level 2 towards the diagonal shaft. Being by myself it got a bit much for me when I got the muddy and couldn't see the floor.

A bit of copy and paste.
A bit of History:

The mine was worked from 1860 by D’Ersby and Gwydyr Co. until it closure in 1963. As the name suggests it was a Lead mine on multiple level with large vertical stopes. The mine was used for 2 experiments, one in 1960s looking for new ore seperation techniques and one in 1968 to measure coastal deformation due to tides. The experimental equipment was removed after the mine was sealed by some rather beefy grate. The workings are on 2 lodes which meet where the tramway junction is.

Maybe within 20 trip I will be brave enough to go all the way in.

Excellent report. stunning images. Electric boogaloo there’s about 3 people on this forum that get that reference and I’m one of them. Nice work ozone

Great pics in really difficult conditions. Enjoyed that.
Yeah its a real ballache getting it right using a torch rather than a floodlight. End up with yellow streaks across the photo.

First time I got to give the new lens a run.

I have been reliably informed that the dodgy bits all have safety ropes in situ to clip on to. It is about the only place that I have ever used my harness but I'd rather use it then end up down the hole. My previous visit I didn't really know what was in there and got spooked by the first hole in the floor.

It looks great how extensive are they?

The workings? I have some maps but I will have to link you them as they are 50mb+ each

They may take a min to load.
Part 1
Part 2

In part 1 I walked from around about where it says 310 - 346 on the green level.

I love mine railways. For some reason they fascinate me. Why were the two bogies you photographed had no buckets on? Or was it just they were the only two left behind and were pushed down by someone? Also, why had the points collapsed at one place? Sorry for my lack of knowledge and thus if I sound dumb.

I'm not sure why there is no bucket on the car, I assume it has been removed at some point.

The floor had probably collapsed because it was mined out and replaced, in this case it is at the intersection of the two lodes of ore. There was probably enough ore there they dug it out and replaced the floor with wooden planks. Over the years these rot and collapse leaving some rather large holes in the floor.

It is a bit of a pain in the arse trying to get it right. My white torch is not powerful enough to light to background
nice pics mate id love to go here and can provide silly amount of pure white light haha how deep is that hole in the floor? worth a rope trip?
